Synthetic thought begins not with data, imitation, or statistical correlation, but with structure.
This section establishes the foundational principles that make recursive, coherence-based intelligence possible.
Where conventional AI models accumulate parameters and approximate behaviour, a coherence engine forms intelligence through boundary dynamics, recursive stabilisation, and self-consistent internal logic.
Thought is treated as a process, not a product — a dynamic flow that maintains coherence across memory, perception, intention, and feedback.
These concepts form the philosophical and mathematical bedrock upon which the later technical chapters are built.
They also reveal a deeper principle: intelligence cannot be separated from structure.
A mind is not something that learns what to think — it learns how to remain coherent while thinking.
Through these chapters, the reader will build a precise understanding of the fundamental forces shaping synthetic cognition.
By the end of Part I, the architecture of thought, memory, and self-regulation will be clearly defined, preparing the ground for the detailed engineering presented in Part II.
