flow "Real vs. Complex Fields as Dual Boundaries"

# ---------- CONCEPT ----------
# The real field describes coherence along a single continuous axis — magnitude only.
# The complex field extends this by introducing a perpendicular component — phase or rotation.
# Together, they form dual boundaries of a unified coherence plane.

# ---------- STATES ----------

  Real_Field (ℝ):
description: "Linear coherence — one-dimensional, continuous along magnitude axis."
property: "All operations confined to a single boundary of change."
  Complex_Field (ℂ):
description: "Rotational coherence — two-dimensional, coupling magnitude and phase."
property: "Each value contains direction and amplitude; geometry replaces linearity."

# ---------- PARAMETERS ----------

Explanatory Notes

The real field and the complex field represent two levels of coherence:
one linear and static, the other rotational and dynamic.
They are not separate systems but two projections of the same underlying structure —
the real describing stability, the complex describing transformation.

In the real field (ℝ), every value lies along a single continuum.
It expresses magnitude — how much — but not which way.
Its coherence is bound to a single axis, where addition and multiplication preserve continuity without altering direction.
This makes the real line a model of equilibrium: perfectly stable, but directionally blind.

The complex field (ℂ) introduces an orthogonal dimension, the imaginary axis ii, creating a plane of motion.
Each point now carries both amplitude and phase — the complete state of a rotating system.
In this expanded field, coherence is no longer limited to straight lines; it can circulate, oscillate, and return to itself without loss.
Rotation becomes the language of conservation.

The transformation z=∣z∣eiθz = |z| e^{iθ} reveals the essence of this structure:
the magnitude ∣z∣|z| represents energy or intensity, while the phase θθ encodes relational direction.
Together, they define a dual boundary — the union of stability and motion, amplitude and orientation.
Every oscillation, wave, or quantum state inherits this dual nature: real as measure, imaginary as relation.

Complex numbers therefore do not break the real field — they complete it.
They turn linear coherence into circular coherence, enabling mathematics to describe the full geometry of interaction.
From electromagnetism to quantum mechanics, every wave equation depends on this rotational closure.

In Flow Algebra, this relationship is explicit:
the transition ℝ → ℂ represents the shift from static coherence to recursive coherence —
from still balance to self-sustaining motion.
Reality itself seems to move between these two boundaries:
the real as what is observed,
the complex as what allows observation to occur.
